Before you can be committed to something you must understand it. The gospel is a message about Jesus Christ and God’s way of salvation.
The gospel is the message that God is our holy Creator and righteous Judge. He created us to glorify Him and enjoy Him forever, but we have sinned, both in Adam and in our own individual actions. We therefore deserve death (spiritual separation from God in hell), we are helpless in this sinful condition and we need God to give spiritual salvation to us. God sent His Son Jesus who lived a sinless life and died a substitutionary death and was raised from the dead for our justification. If we are to have Christ’s perfect righteousness credited to us, and the penalty of our sins accounted to Him we must turn from our sins and believe this message concerning Jesus and salvation.
We believe that this core message is essential to every church! Faithfulness to the gospel is the measure of our success not numbers.
Church life at Mineral Springs is not complex. What Christ demands in the Scriptures we believe we should demand from each other. What is not demanded in the Scriptures we avoid demanding of one another. The functions of the church define our church life. Webster’s Dictionary defines function as the acts or operations of a person or thing. The Book of Acts presents a clear picture of the church life that is pleasing to God and it includes the following seven functions: worship, prayer, fellowship, discipleship, service, giving, and evangelism. These define our church life.
In our Sunday morning services we gather at 10:30 am to worship God as a congregation. We provide a nursery and children’s church for younger children but our desire is a united time around the Word of God. We are made up of people from every age class and group. We strive to make Christ our focus rather than ourselves. The sermons are founded upon the Word of God and for the most part expositional in nature with application to the individuals present.
Our Sunday evening services are more discipleship oriented with the deeper things of God as our goal. We gather at 6:00 pm and you will find these services very well attended as a rule.
On Wednesday evenings we have special segregated discipleship programs for children and youth beginning at 6:30 pm. Our desire is to communicate the Word of God to them in a way that they can understand and apply to their lives. A prayer meeting for anyone interested begins at 7:00 pm in the sanctuary and is lead by our pastor. This time begins with an emphasis on prayer.
We believe that the pursuit of the knowledge of God is a life time ambition and not a onetime decision. This is clearly the emphasis found in the Word of God. All the patriarchs, prophets, historians, poets, apostles, disciples and servants who were used to pen Holy Scripture were simply individuals on pilgrimage with God by hungering for God.
The Bible is a book of truth and must therefore be studied with vigor and enthusiasm. Our worship, discipleship, evangelism, service, and even our fellowship is to be colored by this desire to know God and all that God has revealed in His precious Word.
