Our Ministries
Preschool
Preschoolers are very important to us. All children up through kindergarten
are a part of this ministry, which offers nursery during Sunday School and
morning worship services as well as SS classes designed for each age group.
Children’s church is provided for all preschoolers through first grade
during the 11:00 am worship service. Preschoolers are also a part of Awana.
Special activities are held for children throughout the year. Children's
The children’s ministry at Mineral Springs Baptist is designed to minister
to children in grades 1-6th. There are Sunday School classes for each
individual grade during the 9:45 Sunday School. The children’s department
plans regular activities as well as special summer programs including
Vacation Bible School and summer camps. AWANA
Awana is an action packed ministry for boys and girls from ages 4 through 12
which meets on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm during the school year. AWANA
stands for “Approved Workman are not Ashamed” and is based on 2 Timothy
2:15. Youth
The youth ministry at Mineral Springs Baptist Church ministers to teenagers
in grades 7-12. Sunday School classes are divided according to age groups.
Special trips, activities, retreats, summer camp and mission projects are
all a part of what is planned for our youth.
Music
The Music Ministry of Mineral Springs Baptist Church is dynamic and
exciting. Numerous opportunities exist to share talents through vocal and
instrumental music. Varied types of music from traditional to contemporary
are used to meet the different worship styles of those who attend each week. Prayer
The prayer emphasis of our church consists of a Prayer Ministry, prayer
partners and prayer meeting each Wednesday evening plus an intercessory
prayer time on Wednesday evening. Prayer is the source of strength and
blessing for our church. Discipleship
Special classes are held during Sunday School, Sunday evenings, and even
weekdays as the need and opportunity arises. Types of classes offered
include among others, Harvest Gatherers (Evangelism Training), Experiencing
God, The Mind of Christ, Prayer Life, Parenting, Family Life, Spiritual
Gifts, Crisis Care and books of the Bible. Information about upcoming
classes are available by calling the church office.
Evangelism
At Mineral Springs we have a deep commitment to fulfilling the commission of
Jesus Christ to take the gospel to all the peoples of the world. We believe
it is our responsibility to begin first in our own community and then
proceed to reach out to the rest of the world. All the ministries of our
church are intentionally designed to be evangelistic following the example
set by Jesus in His earthly ministry. We are also involved in various
aggressive outreach activities for creating opportunities for confronting
our neighbors with the gospel. There is constant encouragement for everyone
who is a part of this ministry to be a witness by his or her actions and
words. In order to effectively accomplish this objective we offer
evangelistic training on a regular basis. Women's
The ladies of the church meet the third Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m.
We enjoy fellowship, Bible study, and prayer together. We participate in
Sonshine Baskets, a prayer chain, secret sisters, luncheons, and much more.
A Bible study is offered once a year. Our aim is to learn to live for Christ
and to encourage each other in our spiritual growth. Men's
The men of the church meet once a month for a prayer breakfast
at a local restaurant. After fellowship together around the table there is a time of
sharing, devotions, and prayer. The men support the Baptist Mission Centers
of Roanoke by receiving an offering at the time each month. The men are
anxious and faithful to minister to any needs that come to their attention
in the church family or community. Transportation
Mineral Springs Baptist Church is committed to reaching our community for
Jesus Christ. There are many people who will allow their children and youth
to attend church but will not bring them. This opportunity helped to birth a
transportation ministry of two vans and a bus with a number of dedicated
workers who witness and transport folks to Sunday School, Awana Clubs, and
youth meetings on Wednesday evenings. If you need transportation or know
someone who does, please call the church office. Senior Saints
God has blessed us with a great Senior Adult Ministry. We call our group
“Senior Saints”. During the year we have many activities and trips such as
pot-luck lunches, day trips, overnight trips, shopping trips, opportunities
to minister in the nursing homes, etc. Our Senior Saints Choir presents a
musical/drama during Senior Adult Week. |
