Our History

Mineral Springs was founded in 1937 with a total of 30 charter members and has grown to a present membership of well over 500. From a one-room building with a pot-bellied stove to multiple modern buildings with all the amenities, the Lord has brought us a long way. We have gone from a single part-time pastor to a staff of three pastors serving full time.

In the early 1970's we began to make plans for relocation and expansion. The location of the initial building and the dangers involved with parking and increased traffic on Route 24 led to the churches purchase of five acres of land off Jeters Chapel Road. In 1972 we broke ground for a new one-story building that consisted of a 225 seat sanctuary and Sunday school rooms. In a short period of time this space was not large enough and a wing consisting of three classrooms and a library were added. These additions were dedicated in 1976.

In 1989 the Mineral Springs Christian School was founded and has grown from a weekday early learning program for 3 and 4 year olds into classes through the eighth grade led by eight teachers that do a wonderful job because of their love for Lord Jesus and the students.
In 1991 ground was again broken to add a new two story educational wing which consisted of a large fellowship hall, kitchen, bathrooms, two storage rooms and 10 classrooms. We moved into this building in January 1992.

In December of 2008 we moved into our new building which is 22,000 square feet of space. Our sanctuary seats 400 with a spacious fellowship hall, a choir rehearsal room and 4 additional rooms.
The joy and glory of Mineral Springs is not the buildings or programs but the Christ- centered worship and the desire of the people to bring glory and honor to the One who has delivered them from darkness and given them a home in heaven.

Our focus at Mineral Springs is not upon the past but the future. We are not dwelling upon what God has done but believing Him for even greater things for tomorrow. We are thankful for what God has done and excited to be a part of what He is going to do in the future.

Southern Bapitst Convention (SBC)

Mineral Springs voluntarily cooperates with the Southern Baptist Convention and her related agencies and organizations. We are strongly committed to the direction that the Convention has taken over the past generation. We strive to give 10 percent of our budget toward the mission causes of the SBC especially the International Mission Board.

International Missions

In addition to our support of the International Mission Board and the Cooperative program we are involved in sending volunteers to serve overseas to assist in church planting and evangelism wherever God might open the doors and we have individuals qualified and committed to go. We desire to have missionaries to come and share with us on a regular basis so that our prayers for the cause of Christ might be current with respect to the present challenges.

We are also supporting a church planning mission in Strabane, Northern Ireland through the labors of Joe and Darlene Cornell.
